Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown has seemingly been delayed again
A new trailer for the “early 2024” game has been shared but there’s still no release date
Nacon has seemingly delayed Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown again.
The publisher released a new trailer for the game, which shows off its off-road exploration and highlights its open world.
The trailer didn’t reveal the game’s release date, however, with Nacon simply saying it’s coming in 2024.
Announced in July 2020, the third game in Test Drive’s open world Unlimited sub-series was originally due to be released in September 2022, but has suffered a series of delays – first to 2023, and then to “early 2024”, with a Nacon financial report listing its release as Q1 this year, implying a release by the end of March.
However, the trailer has been accompanied by a developer newsletter on the game’s Steam page, which appears to imply that a release date is still a way off.
“We know that you want a launch date, and we understand your eagerness,” it reads. “We share your eagerness.
“Although a launch date has been considered several times, we want to take the time needed to ensure that your experience of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is as smooth, stable and fun as can be. Many of you have already pointed this out to us: take the time to release a game that matches your expectations.
“That’s why we’re working flat out on several aspects, including the stability of the server infrastructure and optimizing the game’s performance.
“When we feel like these two areas are stable, we’ll be delighted to share the long-awaited launch date with you, then cross the finish line and start our long adventure together.
“In the meantime, more test phases will be started soon, including Closed Playtest 3, which will be bigger in scope and in larger territories.”
The third Test Drive Unlimited game promises to let players get to grips with “extraordinary cars” in “a luxurious island world recreated at 1:1 scale”, with players exploring a digital recreation of Hong Kong Island.
