eShop update could point to Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp release

The Nintendo Switch eShop page for Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp has been updated, potentially indicating that a new release date for the long-delayed game could be imminent.

According to a user in Famiboards, the game’s eShop page has been updated, suggesting that pre-orders for the game could soon go live once again.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom’s eshop page recently received a similar update.

Originally scheduled for release last year, Nintendo delayed the release of Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Despite the continuation of the war, it seems that Nintendo may be preparing to finally release the game.

Last year, a player who pre-ordered the game when it was initially for sale managed to get access and play it early. 

According to the user, they had preloaded the game on the Nintendo Switch Lite prior to the game’s delay, and then, having not connected it to the internet since the preload, seemingly worked around Nintendo’s rescheduling, as the preload was no longer able to update to the new release date.

The original Advance Wars was released on the Game Boy Advance in 2001, and was developed by Intelligent Systems.

It tells the story of the nation of Orange Star, which finds itself embroiled in a war against its neighbouring faction, Blue Moon, and the subsequent involvement of nearby nations Yellow Comet and Green Earth.
