Ninja Gaiden Master Collection’s PC port is being slammed for a lack of options
The resolution, full-screen and control settings are being widely criticised online
The newly released PC version of the Ninja Gaiden Master Collection is being heavily criticised for a lack of basic PC settings.
The game’s Steam page is steadily gathering negative reviews while gaming publications have also been calling out its limitations, with Kotaku’s Luke Plunkett naming it “one of the worst [PC ports] I have ever seen”.
The problems stem from three main issues regarding full-screen, resolution and control options.
The game launches in a window every time, and players have to manually switch to full-screen by maximising the window.
There are no in-game resolution settings, either. Players have to go to the game in their Steam library, open its Properties menu and choose one of three resolutions (720p, 1080p or 4K) in a text field.
The game also has no support for 1440p, nor does it have any graphics quality settings of any type. Instead, the game’s Steam page suggests players lower the resolution to “reduce the processing load”.
Finally, there are no options to play using a mouse and keyboard, meaning players who don’t have a controller can’t play the game at all.
“At least Ninja Gaiden is FINALLY on PC but I almost wish it didn’t happen if it means it’ll be like this,” stated one Steam review, which listed other issues such as the mouse cursor not disappearing during gameplay.
“Overpriced, barebones and lazy as possible which is standard for KT PC releases that aren’t called Nioh,” adds another reviewer. “Can’t justify the asking price of $45 for old games and basically zero effort in the port.”
Ninja Gaiden Master Collection includes Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge, as well as “most” previously released DLC costumes.
Team Ninja explained earlier this year that the compilation only contains the ‘Sigma’ versions because it lost data for the originals.
