Forza Horizon 5 is getting two Barbie movie cars
Both electric vehicles have been spotted in the game’s car list
Forza Horizon 5 is set to receive two new cars designed to promote the upcoming Barbie movie.
Racing game YouTuber Don Joewon Song noted that both cars had been added to the game’s list of cars, though they aren’t available to claim yet.
VGC has checked and can corroborate this – both cars can be found in the Horizon Promo menu, which shows images of every car in the game.
This section now contains two new cars – under Chevrolet there’s now a 1956 Barbie Movie Corvette EV, and under GMC there’s now a 2022 Barbie Movie Hummer EV Pickup.
At the moment there’s no way to obtain the cars, and the only way to see them in action is to use blueprint events created in the Event Lab, which can lead to AI opponents racing in them.
It seems likely, then, that there’s an upcoming promo event in which players will either be gifted the cars to promote the film, or will be given new missions to unlock them.
The promotion may seem somewhat odd, but does make some sense given that Barbie is owned by Mattel, the toy manufacturer also responsible for the Hot Wheels brand.
Forza Horizon 5 received a Hot Wheels expansion in July last year, as did Forza Horizon 3 in 2017, so Mattel’s relationship with the series is a long-running one.
The next Forza game, simply titled Forza Motorsport, will be released on October 10 for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Microsoft recently confirmed that it will also be playable on Xbox One as a cloud version.
