Capcom says it will fix the missing ray tracing in the Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes on Steam

Capcom has said it will restore missing graphical options to Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 on Steam.

The publisher’s statement follows reports that ray tracing had been removed seemingly at random from the Steam versions of both games.

“To all Resident Evil 2 / Resident Evil 3 users on Steam,” began the tweet. “We’re aware of an ongoing issue with the raytracing option not appearing in the graphics menu and presets.

“We’ll have this addressed in a future update and apologise for any inconvenience.”

The tweet also claimed that it would face issues with 3D audio also not appearing as an option. No time frame was given for the fix other than it would appear in a “future update.”

In a thread on Resident Evil 3’s Steam page from last weekend, user DendeThe1st claimed that following an update to the game, the graphical option to enable ray tracing had been removed.

Soon after this, several other players appeared to confirm these reports, with user simone_the_one then saying that the problem was also affecting the Resident Evil 2 remake.

While not as common, some other players reported that the HDR in both games is also not working correctly in some instances following the update.

The PC versions of Capcom’s acclaimed remakes have faced issues in the past, with the developer having to allow players to roll back an update to the PC version that brought them in line with the PS5 and Xbox Series console updates.
