Devil May Cry producer teases ‘something extra’ for next Switch remaster
Capcom suggests third game remaster will include additional content
Devil May Cry’s producer has teased additional content for the upcoming Nintendo Switch remaster of Devil May Cry 3.
Following the release of the first two series entries on the platform, Devil May Cry 3 will be available digitally from February 20 for $19.99 / £15.99 / €19.99.
Producer Matt Walker posted a video on Tuesday in which he suggested Capcom will add “something extra” to the re-release.
“We know that this game holds a very special place in all of your hearts and so we wanted to show our appreciation,” he said.
“I guess you could say that we’re feeling a little motivated to add a little something extra that we think you’re all really going to like.”
Walker said to check back for more information on January 16, January 30 and February 13.
Originally released for PS2 in 2005, Devil May Cry 3 serves as a prequel for the iconic action series, unfolding years before the original Devil May Cry with a younger version of Dante.
The origin story explores the journey leading up to and culminating in Dante’s face-off against his twin brother, Vergil, who is set on unlocking a gate to the demonic realm.
Devil May Cry 3 introduced the new “style” based combat system with six selectable options including Swordmaster and Gunslinger that change up the gameplay.
The Special Edition version was first released in 2006 and features retooled difficulty levels, the addition of mid-mission checkpoints, “GOLD mode”, and Vergil as a playable character.
Devil May Cry and Devil May Cry 2 are each currently available for digital download on Nintendo Switch for $19.99 / £15.00 / €19.99.
