Black Ops 4’s new content season launches today on PS4

Treyarch has detailed Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s new content season, Operation Spectre Rising, which launches today on PS4 ahead of its rollout on Xbox One and PC soon.

It introduces a host of new features across the shooter’s multiplayer, Blackout and Zombies modes, some of which can be seen in the official Operation Spectre Rising trailer above.

Headline additions include new specialist Spectre, a stealth-focused assassin playable in multiplayer and Blackout, and the battle royale mode’s Wetworks update, which sees multiple areas of the map flooded following an explosion at Hydro Dam.

There are also fresh multiplayer maps and gauntlets for Zombies, plus new game modes, weapons, equipment, characters, customisation options and more.

The first half of Operation Spectre Rising features 50 Black Market tiers, with more to be added this summer.

Treyarch explains: “This is a smaller collection of content relative to previous Operations and spans a shorter duration of time, as a unique new set of content will come alongside the Days of Summer update in June.

“Ultimately, this will translate to easier, more frequent updates that establishes a steadier cadence.”

New playable content should launch on Xbox One and PC seven days after it’s released on PS4, in line with Sony’s exclusivity deal with Call of Duty publisher Activision.
