Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Luigi’s Mansion 2 release dates confirmed
Both announcements came during a video to celebrate Mario Day
Nintendo has confirmed release dates for two of its upcoming Nintendo Switch titles.
At the end of a new video posted to social media to celebrate Mario Day, Nintendo confirmed that Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door will be released on May 23, 2024.
Alongside this announcement, Nintendo also revealed that Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD will be released on June 27, 2024.
The visually enhanced version of Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, which was originally released for Nintendo 3DS in 2023, was announced last June.
Announced in September 2023, the Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remake will also arrive this year, two decades after the game was originally released for GameCube.
The Thousand-Year Door, which sees Mario trying to rescue Peach from a group of aliens called the X-Nauts, has a cult following among fans, many of whom believe it’s the best RPG in the Mario series.
The confirmation of the release dates of both games came after news that Nintendo and Illumination are working on a new Super Mario Bros. film.
According to an announcement from Nintendo, the film, which is based on “the world of Super Mario Bros.,” is set for release on April 3, 2026.
While the directors and writer of the Super Mario Bros. Movie will return, the announcement stops short of calling this a sequel.
